Things That Look Like Other Things

Select pieces from Prada Spring 2014 look like this Etsy vintage sweater.

And that sweater looks like the Go-Go's first album cover.

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

On Style.com there is this feature where you can view a specific look in motion, it's called "move it!,"

and when I see that exclamated phrase on the left upper corner,
I get a certain song stuck in my head for a good hour.

Thanks! Everything Stinks Now! But Style.com is the best place to go for runway fashion stuffs every season.

(BTW, I found and favorited the Etsy sweater by just searching for "strange")

Fabulous Fashionistas

Old age doesn't have to be grim and boring.

I don't think this is available on TV in the US, not even on BBC America or something along those lines. But I found it online and downloaded the whole thing and put it here to download for free. Sadly, I don't think any US television channels would ever put something like this out. Prove me wrong, American programming!
Never mind, it's on Youtube :)

Anyway, I appreciated how it's mostly about how they keep healthy and mentally happy. The title makes it seem all about the clothes, but I understand the producers probably did that to get people's attention. There's so much more to this documentary than discussing the outer appearance of these women. Also, most of them preferred to shop in thrift shops(charity shops) and buy second-hand / vintage. LOVE IT.

Cat Pillers

These handmade pillows are real life and they can be purchased in exchange for money on Etsy.

I have a small cat pillow collection that initially happened by accident and I am totally Ok with taking that joke further and browsing Etsy and thrift stores for more. I think they look hilarious on my sofa.

Fisby likes the pillows, and is not a pillow.

Shop Update – Silks, Skirts, Jackets

Who knew there were so many tones of blues & greens in short sleeve silk tops available for me to snatch up and put on sale in the shop?

Contrasting Contrast Vs Contrasting Contrast

Which is best? Dirty words embroidered along with flowers on feminine lady tops, OR Dirty words written in script on delicate plates and tea cups? Who cares?? They are both equally great ideas that someone came up with and then turned into cool businesses.

The French-based label, Locher's, has been on my radar for some time and I bought two of their blouses years ago. I'm excited about their new batch that was just made available (the small and medium sizes sell out so quickly).

I especially like this one cos you can hide the message with your hair, or scarf, or hair scarf if you're at work in an office and a bunch of people from France come to hang out.

Letters on Clothes

Back in college I was obsessed with House Industries – as was every other graphic designer. They were probably the first American font creators / typeface foundry that I became aware of. They had a slick website and some of their fonts were available for free download, so every art students projects were riddled with the tiki-signpainter-monster-retro-chalet fonts. After college, there was nothing like that first intern office job in advertising where the department bought every House font and I finally had access to thousands of dollars worth of cutting edge fonts through the shared server.

This collaboration (that my subscription to Uniqlo emails made me aware of) between the two companies is something I'm actually into, and for a nice change of pace it's catering to the ladies (especially lady graphic designers).

Anyway, I like Uniqlo's zip-up hoodies in size XS, so I hope ordering this shirt in XS won't be too small (the only size they had left – Also, while I was placing the order, the other color option disappeared from being available, YIKES! These things are going like, hotcakes t-shirts with letters on them.)

It's the alphabet over and over and over in Neutraface Slab in either Light or Medium weight. It takes on this whole other thing, a really unique pattern. This shirt will look great under short sleeve sweaters, paired up with see-through-ish cardigans, and layering with other patterns.

I bet Uniqlo will restock though, or they have a bunch in all sizes available at their IRL store locations. The wide necks look perfect, that is what really sold me on buying something without trying it on first. It's difficult to find a t-shirt that is cut to flatter a female figure, also the price is pretty great, especially for a collaboration. Nothing for the men yet. Suckers!

All of the other more colorful designs can be seen here on the House blog really easily in pairs displaying the two color choices, while on the Uniqlo ordering site, it seems to be running a bit slow. I do have 23879583 windows open though...

3. Went to see the Moth at the Bell House with girl friends and laughed my ass off at nervous strangers and Ophira Eisenberg. It was beyond neat.

You Can't Drown a Dream

All this rain lately has "This Bulging River" running through my head. After unsuccessful google searches of "this bulging river mp3" and "waiting for guffman deleted river song" got me nowhere, I tried "waiting for guffman soundtrack" and found this beyond great website – My Little Underground. For real, this site is something and everything.

All the songs from the musical, Red, White and Blaine: The Musical, are included in a download at the site, even the ones deleted from the movie–BULGINGRIVER.
