The Week That Were

1. The epitome of "dappled" on brownstones along Vanderbilt Avenue in Fort Greene.
you know, "DAPPLED"
2. Out of focus building with mostly san serif fonts painted on the side in Williamsburg near the beginning of Broadway.
3. Secret field of perfect carpet grass near Ikea in Red Hook along the Upper New York Bay.
4. Hydrants to the rescue in Gowanus.

You Can't Drown a Dream

All this rain lately has "This Bulging River" running through my head. After unsuccessful google searches of "this bulging river mp3" and "waiting for guffman deleted river song" got me nowhere, I tried "waiting for guffman soundtrack" and found this beyond great website – My Little Underground. For real, this site is something and everything.

All the songs from the musical, Red, White and Blaine: The Musical, are included in a download at the site, even the ones deleted from the movie–BULGINGRIVER.

You Read My Thoughts

Great gag gift for a fan of Kubrick or horror movies or attention to details.

My submission to Park Slope Family Circus. Cos there's nothing like living in the shadow of Park Slope and getting harassed for riding a bike by someone who makes more in a month than I do all year.

Mad Style

When I saw this image in a recent Mad Men episode, I knew for sure that something was up with the outfits. Peggy was feeling confused during a pivotal moment in the scene, also-plus-and-then her outfit literally gets confused along with her emotions (as shown being contrasted against the vagina-y wallpaper background). It created a jarring effect and made me pay attention. I started thinking there had to be meaning behind the colors, patterns, cuts, etc., and how the outfits are being directly connected with what's happening in the plot and the episode's overall theme. Nothing is an accident or unplanned. While googling, I found this excellent Mad Men fashion re-cap feature on the celeb/fashion site

I came to find out that so many other details had been missed, and just from that one episode alone. For example Peggy felt conflicted over having to choose which side, Ted(margarine-yellow) or Don(butter-white), and she's wearing the white and yellow shift dress. GET OUT! I love it. Was my subconscious picking up on this? And how aware am I while watching TV anyway?

Mad Style just made watching Mad Men better on a level I didn't know even existed.

Things That Look Like Other Things

Fright Rags recently had this sweet Halloween III: Season of the Witch t-shirt on sale. Now, I go to the site and I can't even find it on there. I guess it sold out? This was like, only two weeks ago... Anyway, it looks like the Miss Saigon logo, so who cares.

And no, it wasn't for sale through House of Mysterious Secrets and I just got my horror movie merch sites mixed-up.

EDIT: Found the link: All Hallows Eve shirt

Marty McFly Hat

I don't wear a helmet when I ride my bike.
Yeah, I know, I get shit all the time about it. It's great to have caring friends.

I do wear a hat (usually) with a brim but it's also made out of wool. So, when it gets 90 degrees and I'm sweating before a get a block under my belt, I should look into getting another hat. A nice cotton hat or something? I know I should invest in a "cycling cap," but I'll probably just end up buying this.

Pulled Out the iPhone in Public - Week 1

1. Besides death and taxes and ice cream, there is another certain about life, that The Simpson's Tapped Out level-ups keep it real.
2. A hipster vegan bearded heel professional wrestler is in the WWE. Yep, saw him in person with my own eyes. He's on twitter (WWEDanielBryan), wears a sweet NO-NO-NO shirt with no pants, wants the same thing as Rodney Dangerfield (RIP), and people love to hate him. Also, why aren't people talking more about WWE DIVAS?!
3 & 4. Lil' NYC sparrow inside Chinese take-out restaurant, hopping from chair to chair, taking refuge from this week's downpour.

sMOCKing Dance

Four bag-piles worth of clothing that I need to hem/tailor or toss/sell... I can't even imagine following a dress pattern and starting from scratch when the idea of simply making a dress shorter is daunting.
